Yto Barrada, in collaboration with designer Julie Klear and supported by Nask Studio for graphic design, created The Animal Spring, a card game inspired by Brussels’ multilingual and multicultural environment. The game consists of 40 cards featuring animal names and adjectives in Arabic, French, Dutch, and English. Players can combine these cards to form alliterations, poems, humorous phrases, and wordplays, encouraging children to explore languages and words in a playful manner.
Nask Studio contributed to the graphic design by incorporating unique patterns derived from vintage Moroccan wallpapers, ensuring each card became not just functional, but also a visually engaging piece of art.
The game is distributed free of charge to schools in the Forest district and various associations in Brussels and Tangier as an educational tool. It is also available for purchase at the WIELS Bookshop.
