In 2012, Nask Studio had the honor of designing a book dedicated to the multifaceted artist and writer Etel Adnan (1925–2021). Edited by Andrée Sfeir-Semler, this publication pays homage to Adnan’s remarkable creative legacy as a poet, writer, and visual artist.
Etel Adnan, described by MELUS in 2003 as “undeniably the most celebrated and accomplished Arab-American writer of today,” embodied a rare harmony between literature and art. Polyglot and transcultural, she wrote in French, English, and Arabic, exploring themes of identity, love, and belonging across borders.
The book’s design reflects Adnan’s poetic spirit and visual clarity, embracing her deep sensitivity to form, space, and color. Every page seeks to echo her artistic vision, bridging her iconic works with a contemporary visual language that honors her legacy.
